Begin the Beguine

Does this work? I'm testing out a blogging utility. It's way cool if I get it to work. I feel so "techie"...well, here goes nothing!

So Proud

17 July, 2001 at 12:02 AM by Ren | Permalink

So, I got my very own utility to work. I'm so proud. Now if I could only figure out how to foil the University Police Department.
Well, it's all about one day at a time.

Delta Burke

17 July, 2001 at 12:08 AM by Ren | Permalink

Ok,
While I was making this silly thing work, I was sort of watching Lifetime. God what my life has been reduced to. It was about Delta Burke, who was playing a battered housewife who was being beat up by her teenage son. It was a definite twist on the Lifetime formula. For once the man doing the beating was the son, and not the husband.

Also, Delta didn't have some kind of terminal illness.

Melissa, I love you!

G'morning.
I should have a new polling system up sometime today. It's my main concern, so to speak. I don't have anything else to say. woo.
If you guys get the chance, and really want to laugh hard, ya gotta visit http://www.princessmelissa.com . It's Melissa from Real World New Orleans' website and its hilarious. She's a trip. I should send her an e-mail. Oh well, back to debugging code.

Who's voting no?

17 July, 2001 at 04:03 PM by Ren | Permalink

Alright punk asses,
Who's voting no? It took me all morning to add the happy fun poll...which, I might add, is still completely functionally useless.

I'm putting up polls anyway. Stupid bitches, did you really think Tastawerk was a democracy? It's all about supreme tastaness, and I'm the only one with it. So screw all you naysayers.

In other news...I've been listening to the same internet radio station for 296 minutes without so much as an interrupt. tamuk.edu network administrators, I salute you for providing such a mediocre service that I'm amazed when my internet listening station has been up effectively all morning.

Am I dissing the hand that feeds me? Absolutely not; ain't got nuthin' but love for my uni.

Real what?

17 July, 2001 at 11:36 PM by Ren | Permalink

So I was gonna do a recap of the Real World (a'la Mightybig TV) but goddammit...nothing happened. And I still hate all the people.
On the other hand, I swear Nicole is a drag queen. That much makeup on one person, and that's all you can be. A drag queen.

Netscape blows.

18 July, 2001 at 06:55 PM by Ren | Permalink

I have recently discovered that Netscape now officially, absolutely sucks. I remember when it was the shiznat; I will give Nutscrape that. Now, however, it just plain blows. IE (sad as it is to say this) is definitely a more powerful platform with which to browse.
Guess we'll have to see if Netscape 7 will be any better. I sure hope so. Microsoft needs a good smack down.
BTW, if you're viewing this page in Nustcrape, you may not necessarily suck, but the way you're viewing my website does. Just switch to IE. It's just easier for everyone that way.

cure all

19 July, 2001 at 11:58 PM by Ren | Permalink

You know, everyone has a cure all medicine.
One of my grandmother's cure all is aspirin. You have a tumor; try some aspirin. Leprosy: try an aspirin. It cures everything. My other grandmother is a firm believer that everything is caused by allergies; therefore she cures everything with antihistimines (Benadryl is one of her favorite cure alls). Heart attack? Must be allergies, try some benadryl.
A good friend of mine would cure everything with NyQuil. I'm sort of following her on this one. I cure everything with Tylenol PM. I'm on some right now. It gets rid of all my minor aches and pains, and also conveniently knocks me out. Anyhoo, I think that someday, i'll be in my 70's and have friends and family saying "I'm having a heart attack" to which I will counter: "Take some Tylenol PM!"
Tylenol PM. Very good stuff. I highly recommend it.

remixed

20 July, 2001 at 04:08 PM by Ren | Permalink

Check it out,
I redid the flash movie to your right. Nothing exciting. I just remixed it up a little bit. BAM! wow. I'm bored.

ugh!

22 July, 2001 at 02:21 AM by Ren | Permalink

Right, tonight, being the poor bloke I am I stayed in...not to mention the fact that I was at a friend's sister's funeral (did I punctuate that right?), it just kind of brought the mood down.
Anyway, I was here chatting online in one of the numerous corpus christi rooms and I have one thing to say. I'm sorry you think corpus sucks. I mean, it's not the greatest party city in the world, ya know? But still, you make do with what you have. I find it very easy to have a good time wherever I go (well not wherever, but you know what I mean). I dunno, I just get tired of the same bitching all the time. If its that bad, do something about it. Make this place better, or get your whiny ass out.
That's my soapbox for the night. Maybe I'm just easy to entertain; maybe I'm just my own best friend and could delight myself for hours by taunting the Evil Lord Skittles-Kevin Joshua. Who knows? Suffice it to say, even though I launguished in my apartment all afternoon and now well into the night, I still didn't have *that* bad a time.
Now, goodnight. Must go. Clue is on Comedy Central.

New Poll or something

23 July, 2001 at 12:47 PM by Ren | Permalink

New poll posted up. Exciting no? I told you I'd change them every Monday. Be proud of me!
If I'm good, Maybe I'll actually start to archive my polls. Maybe.

sorry, I've been busy (i know its surprising, right?)
So, i'm moving into a new apartment this weekend (yay fun!) and I'll finally be blissfully alone, unless you count my pussy, the evil Lord Skittles-Kevin Joshua, who will also be making the move with me.
Of course, I have to buy all new everything, because I relied too heavily on my roommates of long ago to provide everything from microwaves to tupperware. But I can buy it, and it will all match.
Here's the deal. Anna, my partner in crime, says it *must* match. Crazy.
Well, I have to get to creating the Alumni Newsletter for my university. Work and all, you know. See ya.

Billy Corgan Sucks MY ASS.

29 July, 2001 at 03:09 AM by Ren | Permalink

I'm sitting here on the floor in my empty apartment (i'm moving to a new apartment this weekend) with my computer on the floor (sorry, but I *must* be internet connected at virtually all times) watching some piece of junk on MTV. It's all about like some history of MTV or something.
Anyhoo, Billy Corgan just got interviewed; I hate Billy Corgan. What a whiny, self-absorbed piece of crap. I mean, REALLY. Get over yourself. You were in a mediocre band in the mid nineties. I'm not saying I'm all that or something. I'm some half wit web designer, but at least I don't have delusions of grandeur.
The miracle of the internet is that Billy Corgan actually has the ability to perhaps read this. Likely, he will not. Still, if he does, at least he'll know that some dork in south texas thinks he's a jerk.
He'll prolly think i'ma jerk too. HAH!
Now Dave Grohl, the foo fighters guy...he's someone I'd like to meet. He seems like he'd be hellacool.

Gwen! you rock!

29 July, 2001 at 03:23 AM by Ren | Permalink

Alright,
I'm still watching this thing on MTV...they just interviewed Steven Tyler; is he wearing makeup?
The reason i'm writing this is because Gwen Stefani just said the most hilarious thing. They're all talking about Woodstock 99 and what a disaster it was. She was saying that she didn't understand the pit at a concert. She said "its just a big excuse for a bunch of guys to feel eachother up"
Girl, you tell it like it is!

Moving is the bomb.

30 July, 2001 at 11:26 AM by Ren | Permalink

I moved all my stuff, now I just gotta turn in the keys to the old place. I'm pretty happy too, because Jennifer (that's my now former roommate, for the uninitiated) was a dork, and forgot to get boxes for most of her kitchen stuff, so I seized the opportunity. "well if you don't need this stuff for a while, why don't you just let me use it, and that way you won't have to worry about finding boxes for it." The thought immediately registered in her mind (probably because it meant less work for her) and she said "sounds fine, just take whatever you want, and box up the rest." So now all that's left for me to do is clean the kitchen; everything else is relatively spotless. We all joked that my bathroom was indeed white.    Y'all should be proud of me, I moved *all* my stuff save my chest of drawers and my bed (what's left of it) on. my. own. Anna helped me move the bed, and Mike came by to help with the chest.
I'm thinking I'm gonna get a futon for the living room; my desk now lives in the living room, so i'm thinking i'm gonna match all the furniture in there to it (that light colored wood, with black cushions or whatever)...Anna has also insisted that all new kitchen equipment must adhere to the new design standards as well. Everything must be that light colored wood, or silver or black...or some combination of the three. She let me get away with blue bowls. I think though, that this means all future tupperware must be blue.
The Evil Lord Skittles-Kevin Joshua moved with relative ease. You know, for a cat that loves to sneak outside, he sure does hate going out there with me. Maybe he's just embarrassed that his owner is holding him. You know, that sort of "oh god mom! do you have to follow me everywhere?" syndrome that we all suffer from as teenagers. He was freaking out for about 3 hours after I moved him into the apartment. He kept meowing at me very pathetically, as if to say "i'm sorry for pooping *next* to the litterbox and not in it, but you could have emptied it out more, but still! can we go home now?" He eventually resigned his fate to me, as all good evil cats should, and pooped in his freshly cleaned new litterbox. Which I promptly emptied out. I'm going to make this apartment cleaner than the last one. I just HAVE to.
Anna made dinner last night, to celebrate the new apartment. We had spaghetti; it was yummy. We had to eat it on the floor though, on the count of me not having any tables. I'm having the rest of the spaghetti for lunch today. YAY!
So that was my Sunday. I'll post a new poll up in a few minutes.

Work work work

30 July, 2001 at 04:07 PM by Ren | Permalink

Added a few new polls to my site; I won't tell where they are, just know they're scattered through a few pages on my site. I'll keep adding polls and junk all over my site, to make it funner for you to peruse.
In the "curses, foiled again" category. Turns out Time Warner doesn't offer Road Runner to my complex just yet. DAMMIT! Guess its DSL for a few more months.
One other thing, I fixed the Archives section up a little bit, and now you can also read all these news blogs going back to when I first started creating them. Won't my momma be so proud of me?

daniel, i'm mad at you

31 July, 2001 at 03:13 PM by Ren | Permalink

I would like to take a short moment to thank my brother right now for making my parents lives a living hell. Big ups to your recent arrest for shoplifting Daniel! Nice touch to your already tainted "permanent record."

I swear, I'm not bitter.
