AOL Sucks!
01 February, 2002 at 04:14 PM by Ren | Permalink
AOL sucks and do you know why? Well, I'll tell you. AOL Instant Messenger's "free" protocol was shut down, so I can't use my favorite messaging program, trillian. Now you see, Trillian rocks. It combines AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN and Y! into one messaging format at about half the size and 4 times less system RAM or something like that. It fucking kicks ass. AOL seems to think we can't use it anymore. FUCK AOL!
Yeah. DAMN THE MAN!
Trillian rules though. They keep posting patches to their software. You should try it, it really kicks butt. Visit them at: www.trillian.cc
Update!
02 February, 2002 at 04:49 PM by Ren | Permalink
Remember Unsolved Mysteries? When they would update you on a story...Robert Stack would just say "Update!" I just wanted to see if you remembered.
So here's the update: I bought a futon for the living room. It's way cute. Black mattress/cushion thingy, SUPER comfortable. I'll get it delivered Wednesday. I haven't gone to get a kitchen table. I was still in shock that I bought a couch or something close to it.
I also spent a lot of money at my favorite store, Old Navy. BUT I ONLY PAID $7 FOR A PAIR OF JEANS! that rocks like slayer, right there. So it wasn't a *lot* of money. . .just $57. That's not bad, right?
Also, there's this chair at the place where I bought my futon, that I totally MUST have. Black leather recliner thingy. but not a recliner, per se, as it has a seperate ottoman, but it reclines and is SUPERDUPER comfortable. It was only like $189. I so need it. I want it. Plus, it will match the black cushion on the futon! It's like karma almost.
My new vaccuum rules! I have clean floors now...well at least in the front of the house...my bedroom is still a disaster.
hmm...I think that's all. Tonight is Friend's son's birthday...I bought him some 'bob the builder' lego stuff. I love legos. So he must too. After that, my triumphant return to the CLUB!
Woo Hoo!!!
Hi.

This day is just dragging on!
I'm just sippin' on chamomile, watchin boys and girls with the sex appeal; yeah, I'm watching the Battle of the Seasons on MTV. LOL
It's over now; I'm watching the Coneheads. I love this movie. It's so horrid! Well, I'll write more later. TTYL
Crossing Over
03 February, 2002 at 09:30 PM by Ren | Permalink
I'm usually not a big fan of that show, but they have Anne Rice on. I think Anne Rice is WAY cool.
Anne Rice, if you read my website, and i'm pretty sure you don't, but JUST IN CASE, I would think it *very* cool if I got to meet you. Plus, it would be an excuse to be in New Orleans. That place kicks.
So, Ms. Rice, contact me or something : )

Today, I'm making the fateful decision to take down my poll for the time being.
It's just not working, and I don't have the time or the interest level in making it work. If I figure it out in a fit of brilliance, I'll promptly return it.
For now though, remember that most of you that voted on the Matt Damon/Ben Affleck one picked Matt Damon as the catcher and Ben as the Pitcher ; )
Good times.
Toga!!!
04 February, 2002 at 11:44 PM by Ren | Permalink
I just watched Real World/Road Rules Challenge.
That toga party looked TOTALLY fun. Leave it to the gay man to come up with a theme party and put it in their own special little club. That looked like it woulda been a hellafun party to be a part of.
Plus everyone was drunk. That would be fun. Note to self: consider a toga party for the official housewarming party of this home.
Fun With Style Sheets
05 February, 2002 at 01:14 PM by Ren | Permalink
I'm slowly learning a little more and more about style sheets (CSS for those that don't know).
I'm now using a big style sheet to redefine the <P> tag. a <P> tag on my site now (in addition to delimiting a paragraph) does the margin spacing; I used to use a table to do that. This is very cool.
I'm hoping that soon, I can go to an all CSS layout. I'll have to learn a little more about CSS and how to use <div> tags, but I think I can pull it off.
Then, I can start my plan to rule the world. Oh wait...I was supposed to *think* that!
Yay Futon!
06 February, 2002 at 07:58 PM by Ren | Permalink
Yay Futon!
It's here. I love it already! I need more furniture. My living room looks decidedly too plain now that the computer and its desk are in my bedroom. Besides, futon is lonely with just TV to keep him company.
I must wait until I get my tax return back though. I'm mad out of cash. There's still a lot of month to go though. BAD JU JU MAN.
stupid speakers
06 February, 2002 at 11:10 PM by Ren | Permalink
my damn computer speakers.
The left one intermittently stops working. It's so annoying; not because it goes out, but because when it goes out, like HALF the sound dissapears. When you spend so much of your life training your ears to listen carefully to music, you really notice something like this, and its all the more annoying.
I guess I'll weenie out and call Dell and cry about how sucky my speakers are. Maybe they'll be nice and send me a brand new pair of altec lansings.
the web and music...
07 February, 2002 at 11:47 PM by Ren | Permalink
I love the internet, I really do.
One thing I really dislike though, is music for the sake of music on a website. It's one thing if the music enhances a website (i.e. a flash presentation), but it's quite another when the music is just there BLARING and you were trying to browse the web quietly.
It's getting better though. At least people aren't busting out the MIDI files on their websites anymore. Well, for the most part.
It's not a hatred, just more of an annoyance. So, thinking about adding music to your site? Think carefully. It's a pain to sit and download (unless you're on some kind of broadband), and worse when its a horrid MIDI file!
It could be worse: they could have a page of animated gifs. *shudder*
Comments!
08 February, 2002 at 08:49 PM by Ren | Permalink
Look ma, you can post comments to my blog now!
Yippee!
I know the pages really suck hard right now, but I'll be improving them shortly; it took me a lot of brain power to actually make the pages work in the first place. Let me know if you guys think I should make it a register only forum, or if you can post anonymously.
TTYL!
Fixed the comments templates...more or less
09 February, 2002 at 12:10 AM by Ren | Permalink
This is as far as I feel like taking the templates for my page today. I totally dressed up the comments pages...I'll be adding functionality to register soon. For now you can post anonymously.
Keep it clean for now : )thanks!
One more thing...
09 February, 2002 at 12:46 AM by Ren | Permalink
Just added some options onto the templates...
Added a register user function (pretty self-explanatory, though I may add a helpfile to it) and a close window function.
Cheers!
I found my ATM card!
10 February, 2002 at 07:36 PM by Ren | Permalink
Yay!
For those of you in the know, I discovered that my ATM card was totally missing. Of course, I didn't notice this until I'm already on my way out, to go clubbing. Couldn't find it, even drove back home to find it. Luckily, I had $20 already on hand, so that's what I used to go clubbing. It was actually not such a bad thing; it kept me from not spending extra money. I had a blast on $20.
I found my card this afternoon, it was under the passenger side seat in my car. I must have left it on the seat and it slipped underneath. It's found though.
In other news, I'm doing laundry. Also, Charlie, I hope you feel ok after last night's "events." : )
Finally, I'm trying out my very first cup of "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot." It's pretty good. TTYL
Office Space

I love these personality tests:
I am Michael Bolton from Office Space. Take the test and find out who you were.
I'll add the picture when I move my shrine to Empress Margaret over to the right hand rail.
Mardi Gras is tomorrow!
11 February, 2002 at 05:29 PM by Ren | Permalink
For those of you who don't know...tomorrow is Mardi Gras. That makes today...Lundi Gras. In honor of the decadent holiday, I decorated the front page of tastawerk.net in purple, gold, and green (mardi gras colors) and added a fleur de lis, cuz Mardi Gras rocks.
I know its all tacky looking and all, but hell, it's only for the next two days. We can survive. Besides, Empress Margaret still reigns supreme.
Since this is the internet, and I have no desire to see what you will show me with your webcam... I now proclaim that I will give you magical animated gifs if you 'Show me your code!' heh.
Laissez les bon temps roulette.
Too true
12 February, 2002 at 11:35 AM by Ren | Permalink
Happy Mardi Gras to everyone! I wish I was actually feeling well so that I might enjoy a hurricane in commeration of the occasion, but oh well. ANYWAY, just thought I'd check my site and see if anyone has shown me their code. thankfully no. : )
More tests, more tests:

F*ck Valentine's Day!
14 February, 2002 at 04:31 PM by Ren | Permalink
I think that says it all.
It's not that I'm bitter, I don't mind all the candy in the office...but all the sappy emotion? blah! I of course, would likely feel differently if I had a valentine. but i don't...so FUCK VALENTINE'S DAY!
Just a thought
15 February, 2002 at 03:24 PM by Ren | Permalink
So last night, I couldn't sleep because I COULDN'T BREATHE! It was horrible. But now I'm better...I sort of can breathe now, thanks to some decongestant meds I have...(no they haven't expired yet mom). Still sucks though.
Anyway, this morning, as I was getting up and getting ready for work, I had a thought. I have a cousin, well actually second cousin, named Ozvaldo, which in english is Ozwald. Yeah, I know, what a shitty name. It must not be that bad in Mexico though, cuz that's where he lives and I don't ever recall hearing "Ozvaldo got beat up cuz his name sucks." I think I've seen him a total of like 4 times in his life...he was born shortly after my family moved from El Paso to Corpus Christi. I digress. So I'm getting all ready for work when I have this thought. My great-uncle (Ozvaldo's father) used to like the Van Halen video for "hot for teacher." Wasn't the kid who was 'hot for teacher' named Ozwald?
Is it just coincidence that his youngest son is named the same as the kid from the 'hot for teacher' video? I think not.
Yeah, I know

I know its been a while since I posted; I just haven't had much to say. It's far more worthwhile to read something meaningful (yeah right) than just having me post every day. Whatever.
That said, guess what? www.tamuk.edu the website that I take care of for the university, won an award. Not one of those corny web awards, but a citation of excellence from the Corpus Christi chapter of the American Advertising Federation. Cool beans, right? It's not an ADDY, but it's something.
My mom and brothers came to visit me this past weekend. Eric wears me out. Mom is crazy just like always, and it was good to see Daniel.
I got the coolest watch the other day. It's a Lego Watch! IT ROCKS! I'll post a picture and probably put it in the little feature area (where the Empress of the Tastavians currently resides) just cuz I think its hellasweet.
Alright, that's enough for now. Carry on with your lives.
